Glee Review

One day I will acutally get around to finishing this

Schuevester is the greatest ship of all time

AAAAAHHHHH!!! OH GOD!!! I just woke up from a weeks long Glee-induced coma so obviously the first thing I'll do is write about Glee.

Starting off with episode 8, "Mash-Up", this was honestly one of the sanest Glee episodes so far. It keeps with the theme of the show of just having very emotional character moments and just the stupidest shit of all time back to back. There's a running joke(?) where people get slurpee dumped on them as a stand-in for just regular bullying. It's so ridiculously funny to think about the football team deciding the best way to make fun of Quin and Finn for being expecting parents is to dump slurpee on them. Sue being happy is also a change in pace for the episode, although the show has done a good job of making me never trust her and absolutely love her at the same time. Part of me hopes that Sue goes back to being a protagonist at some point, but she's so fucking funny as an antagonist that I wouldn't mind if she was the ultimate villan of the show. Also, making Will sing "girls are scantily clad and showin' body" while agressively staring at the cheerleaders is definitely... a choice.

Episode 9 is an Artie episode! I'm glad there's finally an episode focuses on him, he's one of the most underused character up until this point. I think they kind of forgot that they wanted to make an episode about how difficult life in a wheelchair is like halfway through, because it never really gets in the way of anything any of the able-bodied characters want to do. They just kind of get up whenever they need to, which I feel like defeats the purpouse. When Artie said "don't worry, I still have full controll of my penis" I absolutely lost it. Also fuck Rachel Berry that stupid insignificant bitch. Kurt 100% deserved that Defying Gravity solo and Rachel just said "noooo I know I get like every other solo but noooo I really like this song". I swear to god every other episode is just her complaining about not getting a solo.

Episode 10 is by far the most derranged episode so far, and even though I've said that about almost every single episode, this one absolutely takes the cake. First of all, there's a plotline about how Rachel falls for Mr. Schuester after they sing a ballad together and it's just so insanely uncomfortable. It's not horribly creepy in the actual episode, but could you imagine if someone from our class fell in love with Mr. Coakley (for all the Gleeks out there who only follow this blog for my amazing Glee reviews and don't know me Mr. Coakley is like Will Schuester but ginger and much less happy). The main focus of the episode is Finn telling Quinn's parents that she's pregnant. The scene is insane for a bunch of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that Finn fucking SINGS IT??? I know this is a show about singing teenagers but like come the fuck on. Then, there is some actually pretty good acting when Quinn's parents kick her out and she has to go stay with Finn's family. This just confirms my feeling that Quinn is the only character who actually acts like a real person, and this entire plotline is very very good.

"You're all minorities... You're in the Glee club" -Will Schuester

Oh god! Oh no! Just like everything else on Glee, the topic of diversity is handled in both the best and worst way possible. I was SHOCKED by the scene where Sue Sylvester calls out all the minorities to recruit them to her team in just the most offensive way possible, but the show almost makes up for it when Sue points to Kurt and just goes "gay". Other than that beautiful scene, it's kind of wierd that they original Glee students who were minorities would be so quick to leave Mr. Schuester because he said "I'll think about it" to doing an R&B song one time. It makes me think that the show is implying that Will is secretly really racist when he's not on camera.

Terry continues to be more and more deranged and I absolutely love it. Dr. Wu is also maybe my favorite character, the way he delivers the line "Nope, it was never a boy. Must have misread the sonogram. My bad" made me burst out laughing.

Quinn is really the only character I think is acting at all normal right now. She is kind of betraying the Glee club, but she is also dealing with a teen pregnancy AND is sort of being manipulated by Sue most of the time. It's hard not to feel sympathetic, especially when Mr. Schuester is fully aware of the fact that Quinn is having a baby with Finn but still puts him in a duet about love with Rachel. Also it's so crazy that Rachel continues to go after Finn and he just goes along with it and starts ignoring Quinn. I fully support naming the baby Drizzle though. That's sick as fuck.

The way the Glee club talk to eachother when they're all in a room together is so funny. They clearly wanted to do these cool one-take shots when they're having a conversation but it just leads to one person saying something and then holding a smile while the camera slowly pans to the next person for their line. I love the energy though it's so wierd.

Glee somehow manages to become more and more derranged with each episode. From teen pregnancy to underage drinking, it's insane how there's at least one scene in every episode where I go "There's no way they can top that". They can always top that. In episode 6, Terry Schuester gets the entire Glee club hooked on cold medicine for seemingly no reason? It makes sense that she would want to be the nurse to sabatoge the Will's relationship with Emma, but they kind of just throw in the fact that she is insane enough to give opiates to teens for no real reason. I also think it's hilarous that there's a pill that makes you better at Glee. Terry Scheuster, just like almost every other character in Glee at this point, is simultaneously an absolutely horrible person who is doing everything to make me hate her, but also incredibly fucking funny. "I'm going to be paying the bills for 18 years, you can handle the next nine months" is both the most vile and hillarious thing she could have possibly said to Quinn.

There's also a plot point about how Finn is struggling with his sleep schedule because he's distracted by Rachel? Personally, I'm still rooting for Furt, but also Finn's relationship with Rachel is stronger than Will's relationship with Emma and Finn is going to have a REAL CHILD with Quinn soon so...

It's also so funny that they had a whole scene about why it's bad to leave Artie out of the dance routines but the choreographers forget about him during every other number so they make him just sit in the corner and play guitar. All of his verses are the best ones though.
